Mbanza Congo — The governor of the northern Zaire province, José Joanes André, said on Tuesday in Mbanza Congo city that the province is open to welcome entrepreneurs who want to invest in various socio-economic areas in the region, aiming at contributing to its development.

According to Joanes André, who spoke at the traditional yearend greetings ceremony, the present time the country is experiencing requires the combination of efforts of all citizens in general and businessmen in particular, by implementing concrete actions in the fields of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, industry and tourism.

"In addition to the actions of the government, we encourage the private investment to join the local government's efforts, creating internal and external self-sufficiency, thus ensuring more opportunity and jobs for our citizens", he said.

However, the governor added that various agro-livestock and industrial projects are being developed in the municipalities of Mbanza Congo, Cuimba, Tomboco and Nzeto, aiming at contributing to the Angolan government's strategy of diversifying the national economy.

Among the actions, Joanes André highlighted the agro-industrial project "Kiambote" located in Diadia, Cuimba municipality, with about seven thousand hectares of arable land, of which 300 hectares are already cultivated.

According to the governor, this project when completed foresees an annual production of ten thousand tons of maize, two thousand of soybeans and about 12.000 tons of eggs per a year.
